Goldsmith missing from Sopore Gold worth lakhs looted from his shop

Sopore, Dec 30: Family members and Traders Federation Sopore has sought help from the general public to trace a missing shopkeeper from the town in North Kashmir.

     Tariq Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Kalaroos Kupwara is a gold smith running a shop at Chotta Bazar Sopore.

    According to family members, Malik went missing in mysterious circumstances on December 26th. “We don’t know about his whereabouts even though we have lodged a missing report in police station Sopore. Police have been cooperating but are unable to locate him,” said a family member.

     President, Goldsmith Association Sopore, Firdous Ahmed Khan said that after lodging a missing report, they in presence of a police party opened up his shop and were shocked to see things lying at sixes’ and sevens inside the shop. “The lockers were open and empty. It seems he has been kidnapped and after the loot. The gold worth lakhs of rupees is missing,” he said.

    Traders Federation Sopore Muhammad Ashraf Ganaie appealed police to expedite the investigation so that truth will surface.
